Copenhagen Fashion Week came back with revenganvce. And once again, it’s street style scene was electric.

This SS23 season however, rather than flooding the streets with feminine florals, floaty dresses and bold brights, the Scandi style set took on an altogether grungier aesthetic; with Y2K-inspired style staples a mainstay among the editor and influencer set attending shows.

Bold, baggy cargo pants are big news this season, along with wraparound shades, pointy knee-high boots loved by Anastasia and Shania Twain, acid wash denim, bandanas and oversized bombers.

It’s a nineties and noughties mish mash that nods to the Gen Z aesthetic – perhaps fitting for a week in which CPHFW has announced a new partnership with TikTok.

As the shows rolled on - which counted Ganni, AERON, and ROTATE Birger Christensen as highlights - so too did the statement outfits. Tin-foil style shirts popped in the evening sun, while slouchy ripped jeans made a convincing case that distressed denim is on the up.

Loewe’s two tone, Paula’s Ibiza sunglasses were the go-to accessory for the boys, and techincal tailoring with waist cinching drawstings gave old classics a sleek touch. If you can count on the Copenhagen crew for anything, it is to deliver chic in spades - even if this year, it was noughties on the moodboard.
