The same Aussie-based salon - Blondies of Melbourne - that brought you hidden rainbow roots has churned out yet another trend to add to 2017's ever-growing list of crazy-cool hair colour: #ConfettiHair.

Salon owner Karen Lewis told Cosmopolitan.com that she dubbed it "confetti hair" because, "it's soft, pretty, happy, and it imparts little spots of pure joy on the hair like confetti!"

Want to try to recreate this optical illusion-like rainbow hair colour at home? First, phone a friend, because you're going to need help, and then use these tips to execute this fun-filled look:

Start with bleached or super-light blonde hair, like Blondies salon-goer Nicole has below:

Next, start to add colour (Lewis's salon often uses Pravana, but for a temporary effect, you can use bold shades from Manic Panic), alternating shades, leaving a bit of your natural blonde to show through. This is what gives your strands the confetti look:

"You can work with any colour palette," Lewis said, "but go for candy-coloured pastels for a more subtle effect or bright fashion colours for a bolder look."

Wait about 20 minutes and then rinse the colour out with cool water. "The colours will slowly fade back to the blonde base with each wash. As with all colours, the more frequently they are washed, the faster they will fade," adds Lewis, "but we recommend washing your hair with cooler water to prolong the colour."

Finally, dry your hair to reveal the full-on, trippy AF confetti effect:
