S Club 7’s Paul Cattermole had a pretty awkward moment on First Dates Hotel
If you were watched First Dates Hotel last night, you’ll probably have recognised one of the singles looking to mingle(s).
S Club 7’s Paul Cattermole appeared on the Channel 4 show in the hope of finding love, but unfortunately Cupid was nowhere to be seen.
Paul, 42, had dinner with 27-year-old singer Anna, so you’d have thought they’d have plenty to talk about. Well, that simply wasn’t the case; mostly because Anna was quick to tell Paul that she wasn’t that keen on pop music. As in the exact type of music Paul and the rest of the S Club 7 gang were famous for…
When your date tells you they don’t like pop and you were literally in S Club 7 and therefore defined pop. Don’t Stop Movin, Paul. Reach for the stars ✨ #FirstDatesHotel pic.twitter.com/U6hFF6pDQZ

Okay, so they didn’t share the same taste in music, but Anna was fascinated when Paul told her that he felt forced into a relationship with bandmate, Hannah Spearitt.
He told Anna, “I was seeing a member of the pop group – Hannah – there was nothing natural about it. Lovely person, but not at all did I think this was going to lead to…” he paused for a second before adding: “I think because of the lifestyle at work.”
Paul recently told The Guardian that the romance was written into the TV contracts and “because of that, it sort of happened” and that he now feels he was “forced” into the relationship.
"It didn’t feel like that because I had totally grown into the idea, quite quickly. I thought she was great.”
At the end of the date, Anna said: "I had a really lovely time. But I do think it would be good if you were more confident, I think you’re a lovely person and the industry has beaten you around a bit. You were apologising for yourself when you hadn’t even done anything."
Paul said at the end, while tearing up, "I feel like I hide the real me. If I really want to find someone what this process has taught me is yes, I need to be more confident and not be afraid."
