While the scandal actually occurred between 2012 and 2015, Netflix's explosive docuseries Apple Cider Vinegar has recently introduced a whole new audience of viewers into the fake wellness empire that Gibson had previously built.

Who Is Clive Rothwell?
Unlike Belle Gibson, the subject of Netflix's Apple Cider Vinegar, little is known about Clive Rothwell, her boyfriend in the series and in real life. Throughout the series, viewers see Clive assist in raising Belle's young son, Oliver - Belle had the child when she was 18, with a man named Nathan Corbett.
Other than what has been depicted in Apple Cider Vinegar, and Rothwell's involvement of Gibson's business endeavours, not much is publicly known about Rothwell.
However, Gibson did share some information about Rothwell and their relationship back in 2015 when speaking to Woman's Day, although given Gibson's record of deceit, it is not known if what she told was the truth.
'In 2012, Belle was with her current partner, Clive Rothwell, and says she suffered a miscarriage. She becomes visibly upset when questioned about this and refuses to discuss it, other than to tearfully deny allegations it was another false health crisis. Clive, an IT worker, did not want to talk to The Weekly. Today, says Belle, he is "supportive but obviously devastated" by the scandal.'
'He’s been very stern, along the lines of, "I just want you to acknowledge where you’ve f***ed up and not try and smooth over that,"' she says.
As well as this, Gibson made several statements pertaining to Rothwell's involvement in her businesses and funding much of her life. In 2019, it was thought that she owed Rothwell as much as $90,000 for paying for her legal fees.
Is Clive Rothwell Still With Belle Gibson?
While much of Rothwell's exact current relationship status is unknown, the Daily Mail reported that he and Gibson has split up in November 2023. The former couple began dating in 2012, and throughout the duration of their relationship, Rothwell acted as a stepfather to Gibson's son, Oliver. As well as this, he stayed by Gibson's side amid the exposure of her lies, and even continued to fund most of her lifestyle, including paying for her legal fees, holidays, rent and utilities, as per ABC. However, their just-over-a-decade long relationship ended when they stopped living together and Rothwell moved into a separate building and seen with another woman, although it is not entirely clear if they are dating.
What is Clive Rothwell Doing Now?
Although we know that Rothwell is no longer with Gibson, it is not known what Rothwell is up to. He has not publicly commented on Apple Cider Vinegar.
