Clear coffee now exists and no, it's not a prank

Plenty of people have opinions on what makes the perfect coffee, from where we should keep the beans to whether we add sugar or not.

However we like it there’s one thing about it we can usually rely on; it’ll be brown.

Because coffee beans are brown, so coffee’s brown and – less appetisingly – it leaves brown stains on our teeth.

Which is why two Slovakian brothers have decided to make a coffee that is neither of these things, and is clear.

Which is pretty mind bending but, apparently, isn’t an April Fools’ joke and David and Adam Nagy have launched their CLR CFF drink.

“The exact production process is a secret,” Nagy told Munchies.

“We use only freshly roasted high quality Arabica beans which gives our product a very specific taste profile.”

Mysterious. And ever more mysteriously according to their website, it contains four calories per 200ml and doesn’t contain any preservatives, sweeteners, or sugars.

Over at Metro, writers tried the brew without resulting in exactly rave reviews varying from “water… but an aftertaste of coffee,” to “I can think of things I’d less rather drink”.

Their Indiegogo campaign has raised €466 ($494) of its €35,000 ($37,178) target, so there’s a fair amount to go.
