Clara Amfo let slip her Strictly Come Dancing secret to Sex Education's Ncuti Gatwa
BBC Radio 1 presenter and Cosmopolitan UK October cover star Clara Amfo is one of 15 celebrities who’ll be quickstepping and waltzing their way around the dance floor later this year when Strictly Come Dancing returns.
Once the celeb stars sign on the dotted line, they have around a two week wait before the news is actually announced, which is a long time to keep something a secret - even if you're the best secret keeper ever.
That's why we're not totally surprised Clara managed to let slip the secret, um, twice. As well as accidentally telling fellow presenter Nick Grimshaw, she's admitted she also told Sex Education pal Ncuti Gatwa aka Eric.
"I knew he was going to be so excited because he’s such a fan," Clara tells Cosmopolitan UK. "We had lunch about two weeks ago, so I think I told him the same week I told Grimmy. I think I was in the mood for telling people [laughs]. I said, ‘Look, I’m doing Strictly,’ and he was like 'AHHHHH!'.

"He went with me last time and I know he’s such a fan. He’s super excited, but he’s filming the next season so he won’t be able to come to any shows."
Revealing just how much of a Strictly fan Ncuti is, Clara said the actor was left speechless when he met professional dancer Oti Mabuse last year when they saw the show together. "He was getting his absolute life because he's obsessed with the show and he's obsessed with Oti. He's a very chatty guy but when he met her he couldn't speak."
It's not the first time Clara has been asked to take part in the BBC dance series, but the presenter says this year she had a 'gut feeling' about finally doing it.
"2020 has been a challenging year and it’s like we’ve all learned you’ve just got to lean into any sort of joy that you can, and you’ve got to really live fully. Life is incredibly short, it’s unpredictable, it’s cruel, it’s beautiful, it’s all these bloody things, so I’m like let me just have some fun," she says.

"I was just like - Clara, why not? I knew if I didn’t do it this year, I don’t think I would have done it any other year. Something in my gut was telling me to just go for it. This year just feels right, so here we go."
