Christopher Biggins has revealed he's had open heart surgery.

The panto legend, who won I'm a Celebrity... Me Out of Here! in 2007, told The Sun that he's become a "bionic man" at the age of 72 thanks to a new knee and a new valve in his heart following a health scare.

"I'm like the bionic man. I've had a new knee put in and I've had a new valve put into my heart," he shared. "It's not easy getting old."

Biggins, who was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2010, went on to share that he was aware of his weight and is considering going on a diet to shed some pounds, adding, "I've always been aware of being a big boy - aware of my weight and looking at going on diets."

The Celebrity Big Brother star admitted that he thinks about how “shallow” life is now he's at an age when he often has to attend funerals and memorials.

"As you get older, the things you go to - apart from restaurants and theatres - are funerals and memorial services," he stated. "It makes you aware that life is very shallow. It's not easy. You never know when you're going to go."

The veteran entertainer lost his close friend, EastEnders star Dame Barbara Windsor, in December last year following her battle with Alzheimer's disease.
