Craft fans around the UK are once again getting in the Christmas spirit in a creative way – with knitted postbox toppers. Featuring everything from Christmas trees and snowmen to Santa, cute penguins and even dinosaurs, the seasonal decorations are popping up all over the place. Best of all, they're adding some festive cheer to passers by and some are helping to raise money for charities.

The appearance of these adorable knitted characters is also known as yarn bombing – a form of street art using knitting and crochet. Often used to adorn postboxes, the designs can often be seen on railings, lampposts and bollards. Earlier in the year, yarn bombers created beautiful coronation postbox topper, and knitted and crochet creations celebrating the NHS.
