Christina Hendricks prefers to dye her own hair

Christina Hendricks has mastered the art of dyeing her own hair.

Despite being a natural blonde, the Mad Men actress began colouring her locks red as a teenager and has maintained ruby red strands ever since.

But while Christina could undoubtedly nab an appointment with any celebrity colourist, in a new video for Harper’s Bazaar’s Go To Bed With Me series, she revealed that she prefers to take charge of her tresses.

“I have fine hair and I also colour my hair – I colour my hair myself at home. So, I’m always using different things to keep the longevity of my colour,” the 45-year-old said of her haircare routine, though didn’t share the exact brand or shade of hair dye she uses.

When it comes to caring for her hair, Christina uses Leonor Greyl’s Shampooing au Miel and SEEN conditioner.

“I find that it’s really, really light. Doesn’t weigh my hair down. I can use it daily,” she continued. “And then at the end, to keep my colour as fresh as possible, I’ve been using this Aveda Color Conserve Strengthening Treatment. And you just put a little dime of it on and zjoosh it all around. It’s sort of a sunscreen for your hair colour. Reds fade really, really quickly - so anything to keep it as long as possible. Because each time you colour it, you know, it gets a little dryer, and it’s just nice to have it last as long as absolutely possible.”

Elsewhere in the clip, Christina discussed her evening skincare regime and named Elemis’ Eye and Lip Make-Up Remover, Elemis’ Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm, and Fresh’s Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash as her top cleansing products.

“(The Elemis balm) has a beautiful smell. You scoop it out and it’s got a real creamy, gel, lovely feeling to it. I put it all over and let it dissolve all this make-up on my skin for a little bit,” the Good Girls star added.
