According to a source close to Christina, the 'Genie in a Bottle' singer was 'genuinely surprised' by the very public shading. 'Christina wasn’t expecting to be called out from Britney, she was genuinely surprised over the call out.

'They obviously aren’t close friends with each other anymore, but they still hold a history with each other that Christina feels she should still protect,' an insider told HollywoodLife.

The source continued: 'Now Christina would like to have a private chat with Britney to settle some issues that still clearly lie.'

It comes just a few weeks after Christina shared an emotional message in support of Britney ahead of her final conservatorship hearing. 'These past few days I've been thinking about Britney and everything she is going through,' the 40-year-old wrote on social media. 'It is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live life as they wish.'

She added, 'To be silenced, ignored, bullied or denied support by those "close" to you is the most depleting, devastating and demeaning thing imaginable. The harmful mental and emotional damage this can take on a human spirit is nothing to be taken lightly. Every woman must have the right to her own body, her own reproductive system, her own privacy, her own space, her own healing and her own happiness.'
