If there's one thing we can always rely on in this life, it's Chrissy Teigen providing a much-needed dose of reality on Twitter and putting the internet trolls firmly in their place.

Taking to Twitter this week, the model and pregnant mum-of-two decided to take a break from her usual tongue-in-cheek posts — that have garnered her a legion of fans and 13.1 million followers on the social media site — to highlight the serious side of the internet.

'So many of you are little thieves of joy,' she wrote in her post. 'You police what makes people happy until they don’t wanna share anymore.'

Acknowledging that she is in a much more privileged position than the average person online and can handle the abuse, despite it 'bothering her,' Teigen decided to share the damaging effects of trolling with her fans, to discourage people from doing the same to more vulnerable victims.

'You do it to me, and I should be happy and successful enough to not have it bother me, and it does. Imagine what you do to anyone else.'

Continuing: 'Honestly, [though,] I’ll take it if it stops you from doing it to someone not as happy.

'Because that is crazy sad to do to someone.'

Many fans rushed to Chrissy's rescue, posting several snaps of their cute dogs to cheer her up, and commenting words of comfort and empathy:

'People are mean because their own lives are awful. It’s sad that they want to bring us down to their unhappy levels,' said one loyal fan.

'Love over hate. Happiness over meanness. Ignore the hate,' added another.

This isn't the first time Teigen has used her large social media platform to call out internet trolls, and highlight the abuse she and nasty comments she receives on a daily basis. Back in 2018, the mother-of-two posted a cute snap of son Miles wearing a physiotherapist-approved helmet to fix his flat head to Instagram, and after receiving a barage of nasty comments, decided to take to Twitter to hit back at the trolls.

'Good morning trolls! Just a friendly reminder that you do not indeed know absolutely everything. Miles has been seeing a physiotherapist - we didn’t just go straight to helmet. We tried muscle work and will continue. Also your flat headed kid turned out fine yes yes yes I agree'

'Just didn’t want you guys to see pictures and wonder. Not promoting anything. Just sharing our story! Thank you back to your bridge now.'

We can always rely on Chrissy to say it like it is!
