Chris Noth shares why he was "hesitant" to join the 'Sex and the City' reboot
Chris Noth, of Sex and the City fame, revealed the reason why he was initially apprehensive about taking part in the show's upcoming reboot, And Just Like That...
Noth, who starred in HBO's Emmy-winning dramedy series as Mr. Big, the longtime lover of Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw, explained that he was initially uncertain about whether he would bring something worthy and new to his reprised role. "It was a little bit of a sort of creative negotiation because I didn't really feel I had anything to offer in that role again," Noth said in an interview with Yahoo!. "It kind of felt like I had done it."
Despite the doubts, however, Noth said that he was ultimately sold on the reprisal after executive producer Michael Patrick King shared with him his promising vision for the role. "King is just an incredible writer and has incredible, creative ideas," Noth added. "Once we got together and talked about the potential of what we could do with the character, I was all in."
Following previous Page Six claims that the actor would not be returning, Deadline confirmed last month that Noth had officially agreed to reprise the role. "How could we ever do a new chapter of the Sex and the City story without our Mr. Big?" King reportedly told the outlet.
And Just Like That..., a 10-episode series, is set to stream on HBO Max and is currently in production in New York City. Though Kim Cattrall declined to reprise her role as Samantha Jones, the reboot will see many of the original show's starring actors, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis in their respective roles as girlfriends Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York Goldenblatt. Actors Willie Garson, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, and Evan Handler will also return. John Corbett will reappear as well for several episodes as Carrie's ex-lover Aidan Shaw.
Back in January, Parker released a sneak-peek video on Instagram of the upcoming reboot, writing in the caption, "I couldn't help but wonder... where are they now?" Earlier this month, she also shared a nostalgic reunion photo of her, Nixon, and Davis officially back together on set, which became a fan favorite among many followers on Instagram and longtime Sex and the City watchers. "Together again. 💜," the actress wrote.
