It's been almost four months since Jesy Nelson left Little Mix, and while we were all gutted to no longer see them as a four piece, we're really excited to see what the future holds for them separately.

And by the sounds of it, so is Jesy Nelson's ex Chris Hughes, who has opened up about her decision to leave the band, and what the future might hold for her as a solo artist.

In case you need a recap (really?) 29-year-old Jesy announced she was leaving Little Mix in December in a heartfelt statement, touching on the impact being in the band had on her mental health.

Chris, who was with Jesy for a year from January 2019, has now opened up to MailOnline about the pressure his ex-girlfriend felt while being part of Little Mix. "All that stuff, it puts pressure on you and puts pressure on everything and you've got to do what's right for you," he explained. "She's still a good friend but you've got to look after yourself as well."

The Love Island star continued, "I feel like career wise it's nothing really to do with me but as a whole it's so important, you've got to look after yourself and focus on yourself and I'm sure she will do well with whatever industry she decides to go down."

Chris is so right - as much as we loved Little Mix as a foursome, Jesy needs to do what's right for her.

While Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall will continue as a three piece, Jesy has hinted on social media that she's launching a solo career - something which Chris says she'll "smash".

We have no doubt about that either.
