The 'This Train Don't Stop There Anymore' hitmaker was said to have a model train set running through his garden. What's more, the transport nerd once bought a full-size tram while high on cocaine. In his autobiography, 'Me: Elton John, the Rocketman', he spilled: "I really don't recommend going shopping in the depressing aftermath of a three-day cocaine binge unless you want to wake up the next day confronted by bags and bags filled with absolute crap you don't actually remember buying. "Or, in my case, you wake up the next morning to a phone call informing you that you've bought a tram. "Not a model tram, that the voice at the end of you is now informing you has been shipped from Australia to your house where it can only be delivered by hanging it from two Chinook helicopters."

The one-time cover star of Model Railroader magazine has collected model train sets for years. The 'Sailing' singer once built Grand Street And Three Rivers City, a 124-foot-long recreation of a 1940s American city. He said: "A lot of people laugh at it being a silly hobby, but it's a wonderful hobby."

It was the Hollywood actor's love of trains that made him jump at the chance to play the conductor in the 2004 flick 'The Polar Express'.

According to the National Model Railroad Association, the NBA legend is also an avid model train hobbyist.

The late former British Prime Minister - who led the fight against Adolf Hitler and the Nazis in World War II - was an avid painter and writer, but the world leader was also said to love building model train sets.

The 'Baywatch' star, who is nicknamed The Hoff, is said to have a railroad in G Scale in his garden.

As well as collecting model trains, music legend Frank Sinatra had a whole cottage full of his miniature rollers.

As well as loving motorcycles and automobiles, The Boss is a keen model railway builder.

The Genesis frontman was put a solo album on hold - because he was preoccupied with building a model railway at his home. He told Rolling Stone magazine in 2008: "I just got sidetracked with model railroads for the boys - or me, really. "I'm building a model railroad in my basement. That seems to be an obsession. There really isn't any room for music at the moment. "I'm sure when the railroad gets close to being finished and I go into my little studio, if something happens I'll keep going with it. "I have one or two things finished and one or two things that are half baked, but nothing that's even close to being called an album yet."

The former Beatles drummer voiced the character Thomas the Tank Engine in the children's series and played the conductor on 'Shining Time Station'. Ringo is a major model train enthusiast.
