The 2022 Met Gala's ‘gilded glamour’ theme saw designers, stylists and glam squads pulling out all the stops to create extravagant looks on their celebrity clients. But nestled within the dramatic accessories and show-stopping ballgowns are understated, elegant manicures that serve as perfect backdrops for the fine jewellery to shine.
Minimalist manicures have been a big trend for past few years thanks to brilliant nail artists such as Harriet Westmoreland and Betina Goldstein whose intricate work results in plump, high-shine nails with subtle accents of colour. This year’s Met Gala red carpet saw celebrities such as model Hailey Bieber and actress HoYeon Jung embracing this grown-up side of nail art through French tips with a twist and low-key, pearlised finishes that beckons a double take.
