Up until this year, it was rare that we'd get a glimpse inside any royal homes. But with the arrival of the pandemic and the country-wide instructions to stay at home, the royal family began taking their engagements online, doing virtual calls like the rest of us.

This week, as we were sent back into lockdown in England, Kate Middleton was back at it with the conference calls. And behind her, we managed to catch a sneak peek at some of the cute family photos she's chosen to display at home.

Watch: The Duchess of Cambridge's style evolution: how to recreate her most memorable looks

In the moving virtual engagement, the Duchess of Cambridge spoke with Armed Forces families who have lost loved ones at war, to discuss the significance of Remembrance Week. Today is Remembrance Day, marking 102 years since World War I ceased, and on Sunday the royals attended a socially distanced service at the Cenotaph to remember all those who lost their lives in the fighting.

Kate said it had been "a real honour" to speak to the families. "I think I speak for the whole nation when I say just how proud you should be of your loved ones, and for the sacrifice and the bravery that they've shown," she added.

The Duchess was smartly dressed in a white silk shirt with black collar for the occasion, along with - of course - a poppy. Over her shoulder, a series of photo frames lined the shelf, and if you look closely it's possible to identify just what the pictures are.

The first is a sweet one of Kate Middleton and her youngest son, Prince Louis, at the launch of her RHS Back to Nature Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show last spring. In the photo, the mum-of-three can be seen with her arm around the toddler, smiling as he plays.

Another of the photographs features William and Kate's eldest son, Prince George. One of the pictures released last year for George's 6th birthday, the chosen image shows the young royal lying in the garden, laughing out loud and wearing his beloved England football kit. The Duchess of Cambridge took this photo herself, as she typically does with her children's portraits.

A third picture on the shelf is a snap taken from Princess Charlotte's first day at school, where she can be seen grinning in her shiny new school uniform on some steps alongside her elder brother, Prince George. Adorable.

And finally, not forgetting her husband, there's also a sweet solo image of Prince William, taken on a trip to Africa in September 2018.

What a lovely line up! All of the photos featuring behind the Duchess of Cambridge are ones displayed on their Instagram page, @KensingtonRoyal, suggesting the royals do largely share their favourite pick of the bunch with the public.

Now, writing this reminds me I should probably start filling the empty frames in my own home with some photos of my loved ones. It's not like we'll be short on time these next few weeks...
