Fans of ITV’s The Chase were left angry when host Bradley Walsh refused to accept an answer that was deemed correct.

The show is never far away from a controversial moment or fan meltdown, and this week was no different.

Earlier in the week, when contestant Jo buzzed in to answer a question she knew the answer – or so she thought – audiences got annoyed with how her seemingly correct answer was dismissed as wrong.

Taking place during the final chase where the team of quizzers were batting to win a lump sum between them, host Bradley asked: ‘Who played the title role in the film George of the Jungle?’

To which Jo answered ‘Brendan Fraser’.

However, the contestants and audiences at home were left stunned when he told her that her answer was incorrect and told her it was actually ‘Brendan Fraser’.

After a moment or two of befuddlement, Bradders tried to clarify why the answer wasn’t right by suggesting Jo had pronounced it ‘Fraiser’.

Naturally, people logged onto Twitter to express their displeasure at the dismissal of her apparently correct answer. It was deemed ‘scandalous’ and many saw it as petty, saying that the answer was right and it was ridiculous that the show had branded it incorrect.

One viewer noted that the show was discriminating against anyone who many have a speech impediment.

Others mocked Brad and the show for correcting the ‘wrong’ answer with the exact same answer.

People couldn’t believe what they’d seen and one viewer deemed it ‘absolutely scandalous’.

Generally, fans of the show were not at all forgiving.

To be honest, it does seems bit harsh on poor Jo and her team.

It’s one of the more baffling controversies the show has produced, that’s for sure.

It comes after fans relived Allison Hammond’s massive gaffe when she appeared on a repeat of a celeb special last week. She was asked: ‘Which of these people connected with the Titanic actually survived the sinking?’

And she replied with the answer ‘Captain’.

Catch The Chase weekdays, at 5pm, on ITV1.
