The Chase favourite Mark Labbett has been commended for his kind gesture towards a partially blind contestant named Annah this week.

To set a level playing field, 'The Beast' voluntarily closed his eyes whilst answering his set of questions so he couldn't read them – relying on them to be read aloud just as she did.

After this sweet moment aired, two fans tweeted: "@MarkLabbett absolute respect for yesterday proper gentleman and great gesture #TheChase," and: "@MarkLabbett thanks for making an effort to make the world more accessible in front of a huge audience #thechase."

"@MarkLabbett it was a very nice thing of you do to for the partially sighted contestant. Playing the game the way she sees things," and: "I take my hat off to mark labbet. You showed exceptional compassion for a player with sight loss. [You're] the best," shared another pair.

A fifth went on to write: "OMG!!! #Mark Labbett (aka #theBeast ) bending the rules a little on #theChase for a partially visually-impaired contestant! What an absolute sweetheart! Super kind gesture!" before a final one praised the master quizzer with these words: "Love that @MarkLabbett was keeping his eyes closed for Annah’s questions - making it a level playing field with consummate respect and integrity shown by The Beast. #TheChase."

Winding the clock back a few years, Labbett previously revealed to Digital Spy what he thinks of The Chase host Bradley Walsh.

"He's wonderful because he's exactly the same when the cameras are rolling as when they stop, which isn't the same for everyone in television. He's a professional and I have learnt so much from him," he noted.

"I know I'm biased but he is the best game show host in the world."

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV.
