Skincare has been one area we have invested in over this last year of lockdowns.

With less events to attend we have used this time to give our beauty regime a little extra TLC.

Instead of slapping on make-up products, we have opted for letting our skin breathe, trialling exfoliators, BHA's, moisturisers, serums and eye creams, in a bid to prevent signs of ageing, control breakouts and achieve glowing skin.

After all, experts say the key to a great make-up base is the skin.

Charlotte Tilbury recently launched a new skincare must-have, the Super Radiance Resurfacing Facial. I put it to the test, and here is what I found...

How it works

The facial contains a blend of three hydroxy acids (AHA, BHA, PHA), all of which target different skin concerns. AHA exfoliates, while BHA helps to unclog pores and cleanse the skin, and PHA brightens the complexion by removing dead skin cells.

The formula also contains Exfolactive, which is an extract from Prickly Pear cactus that is said to targets fine lines and wrinkles, while also working to brighten the skin.

More importantly this creation contains Polyglutamic Acid, which is a "magic ingredient" also found in Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Serum Crystal Elixir, which is more hydrating than hyaluronic acid.

It is super simple to use, simply apply a layer on your skin and leave for 5 to 20 minutes. For beginners or those with sensitive skin, I would recommend starting with a shorter time period to get used to the effects of acids.

Why we rate it

Charlotte Tilbury's Super Radiance Resurfacing Facial is more than a triple threat and now is one of my favourite beauty items.

Not only does it provide a deep exfoliation, which encourages skin rejuvenation, but it also smooths the skin's texture, hydrates, unclogs pores, (which helps to reduce their appearance), and gave my complexion the glow I am always lusting after.

After the first use I noticed my skin felt smoother and looked more dewy and bright. After a few more uses I started to pick up that blemish marks (darker patches of my skin) started to even out and my pores were virtually gone.

I have trialled a range of AHA and BHA exfoliators over the years, but for those who are new to those ingredients slight tingling is normal. Personally, I enjoy the tingling feeling. However, it is important to note if the tingling becomes uncomfortable then you should wash it off immediately - all skin types are different.

I was intrigued by Charlotte Tilbury's latest drop because it combines a number of acids in one, which saves cupboard space - bonus.

I love that the formula is easy to apply, not too thick or sticky, and left my skin feeling a lot softer and smoother very early on.

The set also comes with a miniature bottle of Magic Serum Crystal Elixir, which you apply morning and evening, even on the days you do not use the exfoliator.

After trialling this once and twice a week for the last month, I would highly recommend. Although, one niggling wish of mine is the miniature bottle of Charlotte’s Magic Serum Crystal Elixir was a little bigger, as that did not last long.

What the reviews say

Although the Super Radiance Resurfacing Facial has only recently launched at Charlotte Tilbury, it has already received over 100 positive reviews with an average of 4.5 out of five stars.

Here's what the reviews say:

  • "This stuff is the bomb! Charlotte darling has it figured out with skincare. When you squeeze it out of the tube it looks almost like the night cream, however it’s amazingly light. I put just enough on to cover my face with a light layer and waited 20 minutes. My face feels amazing, slightly firmer and has a natural beautiful glow."

  • "After washing the mask off I noticeably had baby doll skin. I saw some blackheads popped out of my skin with the intensity of this chemical exfoliant. Definitely worth it! Expensive but cheaper than a facial. I’ll be using once a week because of the intensity."

  • "It literally is a miracle in a bottle that left my skin feeling super hydrated and smooth. I am prone to dry and flaky skin in areas whilst other areas are very oily. After using this, my face felt a lot more in sync - it took away my dull skin and left me feeling more confident."

  • "Super product which generates instant results. I’ve just built up to using it for 20minutes, noticed a little redness around nose and chin after application but reckon that was just the after affects of the acid. Results are tightened pores and a bright, even skin tone."

  • "From the first time I tried this the results were noticeably clearer, my partner commented on how soft my skin was and how clean it looked, but she clarified that she meant that it looked fresh with the exact same look I have when I go to the spa for a facial. This indeed is a wonder product in a tube, it will not take much of your time unlike other brands do for products similar to this. This is my new favourite skincare item."
