Charlize Theron recalls suffering wardrobe malfunction at 2000 Oscars

Charlize Theron has recalled how she suffered a wardrobe malfunction the first time she attended the Academy Awards.

While reflecting on some of her top fashion moments during an interview for Harper's Bazaar, the actress highlighted the dramatic orange Vera Wang gown she sported at the 2000 Oscars as being particularly memorable for a number of reasons.

"When I sat down in the theatre, because it was such a light chiffon, the ruching in the butt split open," she recounted. "When I stood up for the first standing ovation, I felt this kind of cool breeze coming up my tush and I realised my whole butt was hanging out."

Charlize headed to the bathroom in a bid to try and fix the dress - and Julianne Moore ended up coming to her rescue.

"I remember Julianne Moore was on all fours in her gown searching for a safety pin on the floor and she found one," the 47-year-old smiled.

After the event, Charlize decided to send the dress to the dry cleaners. However, she insisted that the garment not be repaired.

"I still have the dress with the safety pin in it," she added.
