Charlie Wernham has joined 'EastEnders'.

The former 'Hollyoaks' actor will portray Aaron Monroe in the BBC One soap - the wayward son of Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) and brother of Dana Monroe (Barbara Smith), who is dating Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) - and he can't wait to get started in the show.

Charlie said: "It was always a childhood dream of mine to be in 'EastEnders'.

"It’s a show that’s constantly on TV in my household as my family are massive fans so it’s always been close to my heart.

"I can’t wait to get cracking and join an incredibly talented cast!"

Aaron is loyal to his dad but after he landed a city job in finance he left home and didn't look back.

He will head to Walford to check out his family's new set up, as Harvey and Dana are preparing to move to Albert Square - but he will hang around after a few things catch his eye.

Jon Sen, EastEnders' Executive Producer, added: "We’re very happy to be welcoming Charlie to Walford.

"His character Aaron joins the Monroes, our newest family set to move into the Square with connections to the Beales.

"In many ways he’s the opposite to his sister Dana and Harvey’s relationship with them both is likely to be tested.

"There’s more to Aaron than his bravado lets on and we look forward to Charlie’s arrival on screen later this year."

Charlie will make his debut as Aaron this autumn.

The 26-year-old star is best known for playing Robbie Roscoe in 'Hollyoaks' from 2013 to 2016, and he has appeared in 'Bad Education' and 'The Inbetweeners'.
