Ready the lilac paint, stock up on MDF and chuck all your taste out the crinoline curtained windows; Changing Rooms is officially coming back to TV.

24 years after Linda Barker, Carole Smilie, Anna Ryder Richardson and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen arrived on our screens with the hugely successful home makeover show, Changing Rooms is getting a reboot on Channel 4, with Davina McCall and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen as hosts.

Speaking about the new role, Llewelyn-Bowen said that it took some persuading to get him back on the show. "It's taken quite a lot of coaxing to get me under the Changing Rooms banner once more, but nothing like as much coaxing as it's going to take to squeeze those leather trousers back on."

He also took to Instagram to share the news with fans, posting a picture of him in a blue and gold suit alongside a throwback picture of him in a (very unbuttoned) black shirt from his Changing Rooms days. He captioned the picture by saying, ".........The Year 2000 and The Year 2020, Changing Rooms Reboots. I’m ready but is the World..........?"

Meanwhile, Davina said of her new role on the show, "I'm so excited to be presenting Changing Rooms. It's the perfect time to bring it back. Everyone is going DIY and decor-mad!

"I can't wait to see all the amazing transformations. I might even get stuck in myself if I'm allowed to be let loose with a paint brush."

The original series ran from 1996 to 2004 with Carole Smilie as host, but Davina McCall will take over that spot for the reboot, despite Smilie expressing an interest in returning to the show in August this year. "It was definitely the favourite show of my career, without a doubt. It would be the only show I'd come back to telly for," she told The Sun.

We don't yet know when the show is set to return to screens, but we do know we're very very excited.
