Geordie Shore’s Marnie Simpson broke down in tonight’s episode of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins as she opened up about her childbirth trauma and dad’s death. The star disappointed the staff in the show and was called in for a private chat. As they pressed Marnie, she confessed that recent events played a big part in why she joined the show.

The emotional reality star burst into tears as she revealed: “I’ve had really bad anxiety for about six years - I don’t really want to talk about it. But that’s because my dad died out of the blue. I feel really fragile, I don’t want to talk about it.”

Through her tears, the star managed to say more, she added “When that happened, it set off a lot of health anxiety, a lot of death anxiety. And then I nearly died in childbirth and was poorly for two and a half years after, I couldn’t even look after my own baby.

“So I feel like all of that has just made me feel unconfident and anxious, I’m always thinking the worst and never want to push myself in certain situations. I’m always so fearful.”

Marnie lost her dad in 2018 and told MTV that he “was a drinker and had underlying heart disease”, she also added that she felt “regret” for pushing him out of her life.

In 2020, Marnie gave birth to her first son, Rox, and had a very difficult labour after losing two pints of blood. In a chat with OK! following Rox’s arrival, Marnie said: “I’ve honestly not been the same person since it. I really haven’t. I’ve suffered with major anxiety.”

And Marnie continued: “I am gradually getting better but, I’m just not the same – it’s strange. I think it was genuinely traumatic – that’s the only way I can describe it. I’ve been traumatised because of it.”

Marine had contracted a bacterial infection during her labour, which caused her chronic UTI and saw her bed bound for weeks after welcoming Rox into the world.

As the episode of SAS continued, Marnie impressed the team in the final challenge on the episode (Monday 23 September) in the cold water challenge. She and the other 13 recruits still in the show had to climb a platform above the sea, and fall off backwards into the water. Marnie passed the task as she landed headfirst into the water, which came to a surprise to her team and the staff.
