May announces date of Brexit ‘meaningful vote’

Theresa May has confirmed MPs will vote on her Brexit deal in the week commencing 14 January.

The Prime Minister delayed the vote after accepting it would be defeated by the opposition and rebel MPs from her own party who are opposed to the agreement with the EU.

After the announcement, Jeremy Corbyn accused Mrs May of leading the UK into a ‘national crisis’.

A mother who drowned and burned her four-year-old daughter as part of a ‘sacrifice’ has been cleared of murder on the grounds of insanity.

Carly Ann Harris, 38, killed Amelia Brooke Harris at their home after suffering a mental breakdown which, the court was told, made her believe she was saving the world.

The jury returned a “special verdict” after hearing that psychiatrists for both the prosecution and defence agreed Harris was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, and sentenced her to an indefinite hospital order.

Thomas Markle wants the Queen to mend rift with Meghan

Meghan Markle’s father has said he wants the Queen to step in and help mend the rift between him and his daughter.

Thomas Markle said he has “reached out” to the Duchess of Sussex every day but has had no response from her.

It is believed the pair haven’t spoke since Meghan and Harry’s wedding in May.

German TV show names British people ‘Golden Dumbass’ for 2018

A satirical programme in Germany has named the UK its ‘Golden Dumbass of the Year’ describing the nation as ‘the most confused island in the world’ and comparing Brexit to a sickness.

‘Heute Show’ awards the dubious prizes each year, also giving gongs to Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
