After recently joking about returning to work after “three long years of sweat pants, no make up and mum buns,” Cat Deeley certainly dialled up the glamour as she attended the Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday evening.

The British TV presenter, 45, opted for a bright column gown in pinky-purple hue, that can only be described as ‘Barbie pink’.

The glamorous fuchsia gown featured a daring thigh-high split for the star-studded event, which saw both Adele and Barack Obama take home awards.

The strapless dress cinched in at Deeley’s waist, and the presenter added inches to her 5ft 9in frame with a pair of silver strappy heels.

Styled by Nicolas Bru, £835 dress by designer Tarik Ediz’s spring/summer 2022 ready-to-wear collection was certainly eye-catching with its deep fuchsia colourway.

The ‘Barbiecore’ trend has taken over the runway and red carpets alike this summer, with everyone from Florence Pugh, Kim Kardashian and Anne Hathaway to Amanda Holden and Bridgerton’s Simone Ashley embracing the trend.

Named for its notable vibrant pink, Barbie-esque hue, the trend encompasses casual wear, suits and gowns.

Deeley later shared a video clip to her Instagram Stories of her doing a rapid change around in the car park after presenting a gong at the awards ceremony.

The TV presenter slipped out of her strapless dress and into a casual outfit consisting of black trousers, a denim jacket, and trainers explaining that she was off to the airport to jet back to London the same day.

Deeley, who shares two sons with her husband, comedian Patrick Kielty, moved back to the UK at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, but relocated her family back to LA this summer for the duration of her filming the 17th season So You Think You Can Dance, and her sons’ school holidays.

The famous presenter recently took to her Instagram to take the mickey out of herself, after she was caught in photos with a bit of a sartorial faux pas.

“What’s wrong with this picture?” She asked followers as she shared the image of her in an Instagram reel.

Turns out, her denim jacket was slipped over her shoulders inside-out, and she had pictures taken before she noticed and was able to rectify her outfit blunder.

“I walked around like this for hours before anyone even told me… ahhh stay cool Cat, stay cool…” she added in the caption, with the hashtag #Fail. Luckily it seems Deeley has learnt from her mistake, as she didn’t put a foot out of step at the Creative Art Emmy Awards on Saturday.
