While the thought of socks and sandals might provoke nightmarish flashbacks of your dad on holiday in the late 90s, it seems the divisive trend is well and truly making a comeback, thanks to the likes of Carrie Bradshaw.

Yep, in a very (read: very, very) surprising turn of events, the fashion guru herself has put herself firmly on Team Yes when it comes to socks and sandals, as we saw in the latest episode of And Just Like That – the much-awaited Sex and the City reboot.

In last night's episode of the hit series, Carrie (played by style icon Sarah Jessica Parker) finished off her outfit with a pair of mocha-toned Birkenstocks and white socks. The moment certainly came as a shock for hardcore SATC fans, who are well aware of Carrie's commitment to all-things-high-heeled. Remember her iconic meltdown at having to wear a pair of flats home after her Manolos were stolen from a friend's house? Of course you remember.

But it seems Ms Bradshaw has changed her ways, ringing in the era of the Birkenstock as we head out of Autumn/Winter 21 and into Spring/Summer 22. And she's not the only one, with celebrities including Kendall Jenner and Dakota Johnson finding their feet slipping into a pair of Birkenstock sandals too.

The good news is this: if you're not quite ready to embrace an open-toed shoe (after all, the weather in the UK is still pretty sh*tty rn), why not treat yourself to Birkenstock's other must-have shoe of the moment? The clog.

BRB, off to bulk-buy Birkenstocks...
