Cardi B just won Monday night's Met Gala red carpet with a '90s inspired hairstyle that Pamela Anderson herself would be proud of.

In an iconic move, Cardi wore an embellished gold Versace gown and walked the red carpet with designer Donatella Versace.

In keeping with the glamour of such an iconic brand and an iconic dress, Cardi's hairstylist took to Instagram to share the inspiration behind her updo.

Hairstylist Mia Jackson, known professionally as Tokyo Stylez posted a behind the scenes video of Cardi getting a good dose of hairspray with the caption: "We were inspired by her gorgeous Versace dress that’s covered in gold chains to create this glamorous 90’s, voluminous updo".

Proving that these Met Ball looks really do take a village, in the video Tokyo is spraying Cardi's hair while another person holds the strap of her dress in place, whilst another person appears to be doing some last minute alterations and someone else is watching it all go down in the doorway.

And you thought getting ready for a night out in town was stressful.

It's fair to say that Tokyo definitely achieved her goal of volume and paired with the wispy fringe gives us all the nostalgia feels.

We're definitely seeing a revival of the updo. Last week Bella Hadid was spotted with a hairstyle straight out of our leavers ball photo album.

It's just a shame we no longer have a Met ball, or any ball for that matter, to recreate this look for.
