Cardi B has filed for divorce from Offset, reports say

From Cosmopolitan

'WAP' singer Cardi B has reportedly filed for divorce from rapper Offset, citing their relationship is 'irreplaceably broken' in court documents.

According to TMZ, Cardi filed documents at the Superior Court, Fulton County, Georgia on Tuesday [15 September] under the pairs' real names — Belcalis Almanzar and Kiari Cephus.

Cardi, 27, is allegedly "seeking primary physical custody as well as legal custody" of the couple's child, Kulture, while documents also state that "there are no prospects for a reconciliation" because the relationship is "irretrievably broken."

So far, neither Cardi or Offset, 28, have commented on the reports, but another insider at E! News added that Cardi hopes the divorce "will be settled by agreement of the parties."

The couple married in a secret ceremony in 2017 and share two-year-old daughter Kulture. In 2018, Offset took to Instagram to publicly apologise for infidelity, sharing a grid post which read (via MailOnline):

"We're going through a lot of things right now, a lot of things in the media. I want to apologize to you Cardi. I embarrassed you. I made you go crazy. I was partaking in activity that I shouldn't have been partaking in, and I apologise. You know what I'm saying? For breaking your heart, for breaking our promise, for breaking God's promise and being a selfish, messed up husband. I'm trying to be a better person..... I apologize to you Cardi. I love you."

While Cardi announced in December 2018 that the couple were getting a divorce, Cardi has since spoken out about her decision to stay with Offset. She told Vogue in January 2020: "When me and my husband got into our issues—you know, he cheated and everything—and I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me. A lot of women felt disappointed in me.

"[But] if you love somebody and you stop being with them, and you're depressed and social media is telling you not to talk to that person because he cheated, you're not really happy on the inside until you have the conversation."

Whatever happens, here's to hoping Cardi, Offset and Kulture are doing OK.
