Editors' Picks are the Fashionista team's true (#notspon) fashion and beauty obsessions, handpicked by professionals who see it all.

When it comes to basics, I've been trying to be more thoughtful about my purchases. After all, these are the heavy-lifting building blocks of my wardrobe, and why wouldn't I want the pieces I wear most often to feel and look as good as possible — and last? No one wants their favorite everyday T-shirt losing its shape or falling apart from just a few washes. Sometimes that means paying a little more, which I'm willing to do for an item I really love and will wear often, including my new favorite summer basic: Flore Flore's Esmé tank (which, thanks to Ssense's frequent sales, I've yet to full price for).

Fabric content has become an increasingly important detail in my shopping endeavors, and this style's 100% organic cotton makeup gave me the confidence to hit "add to bag" the first time. Holding it in my hands confirmed that the quality exceeds anything I'd seen from a mass retailer in years. (It actually reminded me of an Old J.Crew tank top I've had for more than a decade that's only now starting to sag a bit around the arms and neckline.) Sadly, they don't make 'em like this anymore.

When I put it on, I was even more obsessed with the medium-weight fabric, banded crew neckline and armholes and overall classic, fitted shape. It's comfortable enough for all-day, everyday wear, but looks much more polished than, say, a "Brat" summer strappy white tank. It's great on its own for summer, but also looks good under a button-down or V-neck sweater in cooler temps.

It also comes in more than a dozen (really good) colors, of which I own two (navy and brown) and am about to purchase a third. I'm sure many of the Amsterdam-based brand's other basics will make their way into my wardrobe as well.
