If you're anything like us the Christmas movie-athons probably started some weeks ago. You may even be on round two - great work if so.

Of course, The Holiday is a very important part of the festive viewing schedule, so we're always overjoyed when we get an extra insight into how one of our favourite Christmas movies was filmed.

Well, we're in luck, earlier this week Cameron Diaz spoke about the making of the movie, revealing the particular scene that actually took an entire week to film.

Lovers of the Christmas classic will be quick to recognised the scene as it takes place at at the end of the film. In true rom-com fashion Diaz's character Amanda is en route to the airport to return to LA, when she suddenly shouts 'Stop the car!' and sprints miles across the snowy English countryside back to the cottage to reunite with Graham (Jude Law).

The scene makes up a mere few seconds of the film, but according to Diaz it took a significantly longer amount of time and pain to film. To add to the Christmas movie filming calamity, Diaz didn't know about it beforehand.

In an interview with Vulture, the actor said 'Oh, girl. I was running, like, seven miles a day in heels,' Diaz continued by explaining that 'That whole scene took a week to shoot' and wasn’t even in the script.

'She [Amanda] gets out of the car, and she runs back down the road to the cottage. But Nancy [Meyers] had her already a half a mile away. It was not like she got to the edge of the driveway and decided she needed to go back. She was halfway to the freaking airport. She’s almost to Heathrow, and she's like, 'Stop the car.' And for some reason ran back. I was like, "Okay. Cool. Great." Literally no idea.'

She followed up by explaining that 'They only used two shots, but we shot like ten shots of me running across ten different fields. And I’m wearing that Valentino cashmere, wool trench coat, a turtleneck cashmere sweater and jeans, and my high-heeled boots. And we covered all the hillside with this fake snow, which was totally biodegradable.'

'...It’s all these long shots, like really far away. I’m just this tiny little thing running in the distance. And of course, the music is blasting while I’m shooting it. So I had the tempo to which I’m running. I’m flying down this field and up this hill and down this row of trees. And the camera’s on a track, and it’s tracking me as I run through the trees. Literally, I was so fit by the end of that week. I ran probably seven miles a day in those heels.'

Seven miles in heels is definitely miles away from a snugged up slump watching The Holiday come Christmas, but we can all agree that Cameron's Christmas 'service' is one necessary for the annual Christmas movie cause.
