Cameron Diaz has been away from Hollywood for almost a decade, and she knows it'll take work to readapt to her old life now that she has decided to return.

In a new interview, the Other Woman star revealed the reason she decided to step away from the spotlight and what she's looking forward to coming back to as she gets ready for her upcoming role.

"When you're doing something that you know and you've done well and you know how it works and it's consumed your whole life for so long, it's kind of a nice thing to kind of go, 'You know what? Let me just step back for a second, take a look at what the whole picture looks like for me and what are the things that I could do better and be more engaged with that would make me feel more whole.' And I did that," Diaz told CBS Mornings of her acting hiatus.

Her last role was as Miss Hannigan in the 2014 movie musical Annie, and now, she is set to star in a Netflix comedy with Jamie Foxx aptly titled Back in Action.

"I mean, I miss aspects of acting, or making movies," she said. "Yeah, making movies is a particular skill set that is fun to exercise and be a part of. But, yeah, it's a different lifestyle, and you kind of have to be ready to do that."

Over the past several years, Diaz has been running her own wine brand, Avaline, and spending time with her loved ones. And in 2019, she welcomed daughter Raddix with husband Benji Madden.

"Everybody only has 100 percent, and you always have to figure out how you're going to divide that 100 percent to spread it to all the parts of your life that matter," she said of leading a balanced life.
