Call The Midwife's penultimate season 9 episode looks set to be emotional

After a tragic story line tackling the loss of a child, Call The Midwife is set to continue in an emotional way this week.

Preview pictures for the penultimate episode of series nine hint at a pregnant woman whose husband is abusive and neglectful, being helped by Dr Kevin McNulty (Lee Armstrong) and Sister Frances (Ella Bruccoleri).

McNulty and Sister Frances have been getting along well since he returned to the surgery to help Dr Turner, and this week they seem to be growing closer still.

Elsewhere in the episode, Nurse Valerie (Jennifer Kirby) can be seen getting emotional and being comforted by Nurse Lucille (Leonie Elliott).

Nurse Trixie (Helen George) is seen on-duty, while the Turners are making the most of their time with May, given her birth mother has returned and is refusing to sign their adoption papers.
