The actress posted a snap of a dressing room door, with a sign reading "Trixie", as she returned to her role as the popular Nurse Trixie yesterday (24 August).
In a touching post on her Instagram account, Helen reflected on the challenges the entertainment industry has faced throughout the coronavirus pandemic and her hopes for the future.
She wrote: "So good to be back! When the arts have been so terribly hit over the last few months and some of the most talented people I know are sat at home unable to do what they are meant to do. How heartbreaking that is for them and for their loved ones to watch on - unable to help.
Helen added: "I feel incredibly lucky that I am going back to what I love and I'm hopeful that we WILL get our industry back and theatres WILL reopen. Because god knows we need to be entertained right now. x"
Helen has returned to her role as Trixie on the Call The Midwife set to film the upcoming Christmas special and series 10 of the hit show.
Fans were delighted to see the star was back on set, taking to the comment section to share their excitement for the new series and Christmas special.
"I’m rewatching them with my husband, and can’t wait for CTM to return at xmas ❤️ x," one fan wrote, while another added: "Yay can’t wait! Huge huge fan over here ❤️😘"
On 18 August, the makers of Call The Midwife announced the cast and crew were getting back together.
A statement read: "Call the Midwife is recommencing filming for the Christmas special 2020 and Series 10! Yesterday, our own Dr Turner (Stephen McGann, pictured with our Head of Make-up, Stella O'Farrell) was back on set – suitably Covid protected - to christen our new season’s filming"
The statement went on to say that "bringing all of the [cast and production staff] back together to film in safety during a pandemic has been our top priority in these last months. But being able to deliver a brand new Christmas Special and Series 10 to you is the very best reward that we could wish for."
