Call the Midwife have cheered up our Wednesday and whet our appetite for the new series by sharing adorable photos of the Turner children dressed up in flower costumes on the set of series 10.

The behind-the-scenes picture - captured by Laura Main, who plays Shelagh Turner - features April Rae Hoang (May), Alice Brown (Angela) and Ned Shaw (Teddy) in their finest floral attire for one of the drama's lavish set-pieces. Shelagh is married to Doctor Patrick Turner, played by Steve McGann, who happens to be married to the show's creator, Heidi Thomas.

The post, shared on Call the Midwife's official Facebook page, hinted that the children will be donning some "very special costumes" throughout the new series. We can't wait!

"We just love this picture taken by Laura Main (Shelagh Turner) from the set of Call the Midwife," the caption read. "It's our wonderful Turner children April Rae Hoang (May), Alice Brown (Angela) and Ned Shaw (Teddy) in their latest finery for one of our big set-pieces. Look at those flower costumes! And look at Teddy in his long trousers! My how they're all growing!! Teddy looks awfully cool and grown up - it only seems like yesterday when he was a babe in arms."

The post continued: "We love dressing the kids up on our big occasions - and the kids love it too! In fact, this year, we have some VERY special costumes for our young stars....but you'll just have to wait to see them! Call the Midwife, as you know, follows the seasons, and follows our characters through all of the changes that the years bring. As the world changes rapidly, these ceremonies and community moments take on a special value, as they remind us of the things we all share, and the reason why these things matter."

Series 10 - which mark the drama's 10th anniversary - is set in 1966, when England won the World Cup. Little else is currently know about plot details, but we do know that beloved cast members including Jenny Agutter (Sister Julienne), Linda Bassett (Nurse Crane), Judy Parfitt (Sister Monica Joan), Fenella Woolgar (Sister Hilda), Ella Bruccoleri (Sister Frances), Helen George (Trixie), Leonie Elliott (Lucille), and Stephen McGann (Dr Turner) will be back.

Cliff Parisi (Fred), Annabelle Apsion (Violet), Georgie Glen (Miss Higgins), Max Macmillan (Timothy), Zephryn Taitte (Cyril) and Daniel Laurie (Reggie) will also be returning.

Call the Midwife series 10 will return to BBC One later this year.
