It’s the food collaboration that no one was waiting for: Cadbury Creme Egg beer.

Yes, that’s right. The famous sweet Easter treat will soon be available in beer form.

The product is the result of an unlikely collaboration between Cadbury and Goose Island Brewery, which is based in Chicago, to mark 50 years since the Creme Egg was launched.

The signature sweet treat is a staple at Easter, famed for its sugary cream interior and milk chocolate exterior that has led many to create their own Creme Egg-based desserts, with recipes available for everything from Creme Egg brownies to cookies.

Developed by Goose Island’s Head Brewer, the limited edition “Golden Goo-Beer-Lee Creme Stout”, as it’s been called, is a blend of malted barley, oats, wheat and milk sugar, which is said to imitate the rich and creamy texture of the chocolate egg.

The drink has also been brewed with cacao nibs and vanilla beans for an additional Creme Egg-like flavour.

Raphael Capitani, Brand Manager, Cadbury Creme Egg, said: “We’re excited to announce our collaboration with Goose Island and limited-edition Golden Goo-Beer-Lee Creme Stout that is available now for all Cadbury Creme Egg lovers to try.

“We have always celebrated the unique and wonderful ways of enjoying a Cadbury Creme Egg and with this launch we are taking EATertainment to a whole new level. We can’t wait for people to try our very first beer and raise a glass to five delicious decades of Cadbury Creme Egg!”

Andrew Walton, Master Brewer at Goose Island, added that he hopes the new product will appeal to a “wide range” of people.

“We wanted to make sure that for whoever tried this beer, it would be unique and delicious,” he said.

“The tasty flavours of the stout complement the iconic Cadbury Creme Egg; we wanted to big up the chocolate and creaminess of the beer while keeping it super drinkable.”

The limited edition Golden Goo-Beer-Lee Creme Stout will be available online at www.gooseislandshop.com in packs of two from 11am on Wednesday 3 March 2021.
