Burger King has some great news for all your plant-based lovelies out there: the iconic fast food brand is launching a vegan version of its Chicken Royale!

Burger King’s Vegan Royale is being added to the BK menu after being in development for years under the watchful eye of the Vegan Society.

The Vegan Royale consists of a crispy, coated plant-based chicken patty, ingeniously derived by The Vegetarian Butcher, which is topped with iceberg lettuce, creamy vegan mayo and crowned with a toasted sesame seed bun. Strict cooking processes, which ensure it’s kept completely separate from meat, dairy and egg products, have earned the new burger Vegan Society certification.

Soco Nunez, Marketing Director of Burger King UK said, “At Burger King UK we’re all about delivering great tasting food for our customers, so we’ve purposefully taken our time with the Vegan Royale to make sure it’s the best on the market. In fact, we would go as far as to say it’s an identical taste experience to the original Chicken Royale.”

Dawn Carr, Director of Vegan Corporate Projects for PETA added, “PETA applauds Burger King for offering its customers three flavoursome plant-based burgers. From bun to mayo to patty, all the ingredients in the new Plant-Based Whopper and Vegan Royale are completely animal-free, so they’re sure to be a hit with the UK’s growing number of vegans, vegetarians, and flexitarians.”

You can pick up a Vegan Royale now for £4.79, or make it a meal with fries and a drink for £6.79.
