Burger King Is Encouraging People To Order McDonald’s

As the UK goes into Lockdown 2.0, Burger King has shared an important message about showing support to businesses that are having to close their doors again.

Sharing a statement on social media, Burger King is encouraging people to continue to order food deliveries to help protect the jobs of those who work at such places. Even if that’s means ordering from BK’s arch nemesis, McDonald’s

The statement reads: "Just like we never thought we'd be encouraging you to order from KFC, Subway, Domino's Pizza, Pizza Hut, Five Guys, Greggs, Taco Bell, Papa John's, Leon... or any of the other independent food outlets, too numerous to mention here.

"In short, from any of our sister food chains (fast or not so fast).

"We never thought we'd be asking you to do this, but restaurants employing thousands of staff really need your support at the moment.

"So, if you want to help, keep treating yourself to tasty meals through home delivery, takeaway or drive thru.

"Getting a Whopper is always best, but ordering a Big Mac is also not such a bad thing."

Usually ones to troll each other (remember when Burger King hid Big Macs in all of its adverts in 2019?), it’s nice to see companies supporting each other in these tricky times.

McDonald’s released a statement recently to confirm that takeaways, deliveries and drive-thrus will remain an open during the next four weeks.

Paul Pomroy, CEO McDonald’s UK & Ireland, said: "Following the latest announcements from the Prime Minister, I wanted to share an update on our plans to continue serving your McDonald’s favourites safely.

"At 00:01am on Thursday we will close our dining areas across England but, in line with Government guidance, we will remain open for takeaway, Drive Thru and McDelivery via Uber Eats and Just Eat."
