How to do a brushed-out afro on natural hair

Anyone with afro hair knows that whilst it's gloriously versatile, it can be verging on exhausting to style.

In the past, I've spent hours watching YouTube tutorials trying to recreate braids and twists, hoping to embrace my natural hair, only to find myself admitting defeat and trekking to the nearest wig shop.

It's a common misconception that afro hair is unmanageable, and the countless women out there rocking their natural kinks and curls are a testament to this.

To prove styling afro hair can be quick and easy with a little TLC, award winning afro hair stylist Charlotte Mensah paid the Standard a visit to show us how to create the perfect brushed-out 'fro:

"This is a great statement hairstyle to portray freedom and confidence," says Charlotte.

"To create this look, I used a mixture of my Manketti Hair Oil Conditioner with water to create a leave-in treatment.

"I then used the Manketti Hair Oil which added more definition to the curl, and finalised the look with a few sprays of the Manketti Oil Finishing Mist."
