Bruce Lee's Fingertip Press-Up Remains Undefeated. Here's How To Master It

·2-min read

Bruce Lee: Hollywood legend, inventor of the dragon flag and master of the one-inch punch. Now living forever in fitness lore for his incredible feats of strength, Lee — who died at 32-years-old — is known around the world for his masterful grasp of martial arts and combat skills.

Along with his famous one-inch punch, one of Lee's most adored skills was the two-finger push-up, which he first showcased in 1964. It's reported that Lee could rep out 200 two-finger press-ups and, unbelievably, 1500 press-ups without breaking.

At the time of writing, Lee's record for two-finger push-ups remains unbroken. Wael Abdelnasser Mohamed, from Egypt, holds the current Guinness World Record for the most two-finger press-ups in one minute, repping out 58 of them in 60 seconds. Similarly, in 1992, Paul Lynch from the UK broke the Guinness World Record for the most consecutive one-finger push-ups, grinding out 124 reps.

It's just one of the reasons Joe Weider — the "Father of bodybuilding" to some — recognised Lee's physique as one of the most defined he had ever seen. It's thought that years and years of diligent training, including functional training, meditative running and skipping, helped Lee become such a formidable athlete, actor and director.

  • Get down into a press-up position with your hands placed shoulder-width apart and raise up onto your fingertips.

  • Lower your body until your chest is an inch from the ground

  • Explosively drive up by fully extending your arms.
