Much-loved British retailer Browns will be supporting and celebrating the most exciting young fashion talent of the moment with the relaunch of Browns Focus, a platform which is dedicated to the designers of tomorrow.

Initially created back in 1997, Browns Focus has relaunched this week as both an online platform and as an installation in both Browns stores. Here, it will help to provide support to the chosen designers via capsule collections created in collaboration with the retailer. The designers will receive upfront payment for their work and be part of a mentorship scheme, where they will receive support throughout the production process.

Creating support systems for emerging talent is something which has become even more vital since the pandemic has wreaked havoc on so many of these businesses, Holly Tenser, the retailer's ready-to-wear buying manager, told us.

"Supporting emerging talent has always been at the heart of Browns since day one, it’s part of our DNA and values. It’s been a challenging year for everyone, particularly for the next generation of talent. We wanted to find a way to grow and support their business, to showcase their work and share their vision."

"We also wanted to celebrate their individuality, creativity, and provide an opportunity for them to platform their unique narratives while also creating momentum for their brands," she added.

Browns has chosen nine designers to support through the programme. These include; Bianca Saunders, Commission, Conner Ives, Labrum London, Lueder, Mariah Esa, Maximilian, Saul Nash and Tsau.

"Our incredible buy team are always working to find the most exciting emerging talent globally," Tenser said. "Having worked with these nine talented designers, we saw the potential to create meaningful capsule collections that not only had a strong point of view but were also commercial and desirable."

"These designers are all creating something fresh, unique and have a thoughtful message behind their collections, which is often empowering their community and using their voice to create positive impacts that go beyond the clothes themselves. These are the change-makers and we are excited to call them part of the Browns community."
