With the holidays—and it’s accompanying festive outfits—behind us, we don’t have much themed fashion to look forward to in the coming weeks and months. Sure, there is winter fashion on the whole, but we’re weeks into the season now and trends have been established.
Just when we thought we had seen it all, Brooks Nader brought slopes style to our attention. You’ve likely heard of après-ski attire—it’s been done and done well, and norms have been established. But where slopes style is concerned, we think there’s still a bit of room to negotiate.
There seems to be a trend in recent years attempting to—how should we put this?—make skiing attire chic again. We’re all used to the drab, baggy styles of our childhood. The ones that never quite fit right, and certainly weren’t flattering. Enter fitted pantsuits. The newest take on glamorous skiwear takes the recent catsuit trend and runs with it, adapting the style so that it is fit for the slopes.
Like the styles of the past, these newer fashions are well and truly meant for the slopes—not simply for lounging around after (the après-ski part). But unlike them, they are figure-hugging and much more sleek.
Take Nader’s latest outfit as an example. She hit the slopes in a fitted white pantsuit, which—though appearing thin—has all the technology necessary to keep you warm during a day on the snow.
Most importantly, though, she “look[ed] the part,” as she quipped in the caption of her recent Instagram post featuring the ski style.
