Brooke Vincent quits Coronation Street - report

Brooke Vincent has reportedly decided not to return to Coronation Street following her maternity leave.

The 29-year-old, who has played Sophie Webster on the ITV soap since 2004, hasn't been seen in Weatherfield since she went on maternity leave in 2019. While many soap fans thought she would eventually return, it has now been reported that her contract has expired and she has no plans to come back.

"Everyone thought Brooke would be coming back to the soap but her contract ended two years ago and there are no talks about bringing her back on," an insider told The Sun. "She is loving being a mother of two young boys and plans to be a fulltime mum most the time.

"Brooke has mentioned that she might do a bit of acting work towards the end of this year, but it won't be on the cobbles."

A source on the show told the publication that Brooke has been out of contract since 2019. The reporters also claimed Corrie executives have no intention of killing off her character, who was last seen going travelling in Cambodia. However, representatives for the long-running series declined to comment.

Brooke and her footballer boyfriend Kean Bryan welcomed their first child Mexx in October 2019 and their second Monroe in May last year.

She previously told fans that she is focusing on raising her sons and hasn't thought about coming back to the show. She has yet to comment on the report.
