Britney Spears was an OG Taylor Swift fan before, well, pretty much the rest of the world became one, too. The one-time Grammy Award winner gushed about the moment she met the “You Belong With Me” singer, who is currently on the South American leg of “The Eras Tour,” and spilled all the tea in a heartfelt new Instagram post.
The 41-year-old recalled a moment back in 2000 while she was on her “Oops!... I Did It Again Tour” promoting her second studio album. An assistant manager whom Spears was good friends with knocked at the door and said there was a “girl named Taylor who wants to come in and sing for you.” Spears, who recently released her memoir, The Woman in Me, happily agreed, and Swift walked in and played a song on her guitar, which blew the “Toxic” singer away.
“She sings a beautiful song with her guitar 🎸 I was like wow wow she’s unbelievable !!! We took a picture, and she then became the most iconic pop woman of our generation,” Spears captioned a two-pic collage of her and Swift in ’03 and 2008. “Kinda cool she plays stadiums, and I prefer her videos over movies any day. She’s stunning !!! Girl crush 💄 💄 💄.”
Swift, who turns 34 next month, scored six Grammy nomination for her Midnights album, which was released last October. The Pennsylvania-born artist is now tied with Barbra Streisand for the most Album of the Year nominations (six), and if she wins the accolade this year (adding to her collection of 12 Grammy Awards), Swift will become the first performer to accept the award four times.
The 66th Grammy Awards will take place on Feb. 4, 2024.
