During Wednesday night’s Britain’s Got Talent live semi-final, viewers flooded to social media fearing one act may and in tragedy.

On Wednesday 29 May, American sword swallower Heather Holliday, 38, put on a particularly daring performance that sparked complaints to Ofcom.

Viewers were horrified as Heather plunged an array of swords down her throat right in front of the judging panel, which left Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon cringing.

Heather’s grand finale was when she swallowed a light sabre and lit up her body from the inside. While some people at home were impressed by Heather’s act, others were not.

Taking to social media to complain, one person wrote: “I’m sorry sword swallowing is not an act to be in front of kids !! This sort of entertainment if you can call it that is not fun she does look good definitely like Bruno said Dita Von Teese.”

Another commented: “Ofcom about to crash.” A third added: “Britain’s got talent… Showing kids how to swallow a sword!”

And a fourth remarked: “Today’s show is boring. And I hate this act. Eating knifes or whatever you call it. Why is it even on Television pre watershed???”

Prior to taking to the stage, Heather teased ‘precision is crucial’ to her semi-final performance.

The judges watched in awe as Heather performed her act right in front of them and Simon Cowell was straight on his feet as soon as she’d finished.

He then said: "I think the important thing is remembering that the winner gets to perform in front of king Charles. I think he would love that, I really do.

"It was difficult to talk about. Your presentation was just incredible. You have a real glow, literally about you."

Amanda told Heather: "It is absolutely horrifying to watch."

Sadly Heather didn’t make it through to the final of Britain’s Got Talent as other acts proved to be more popular.

Amanda Holden’s Golden Buzzer act, Sydnie Christmas sailed through to the final having won the audience vote.

Scottish dancer Leightonjay Halliday then faced off with singing impressionist Mike Woodhams. Whilst Bruno Tonioli and Amanda saved Leightonjay, Alesha and Simon chose Mike - which took it to the public vote.

It was then revealed that Mike had secured the most votes and would join Sydnie, Innocent Masuku, Ssaulabi Performance Troupe, Haribow and Jack Rhodes in Sunday night’s final.
