If you're looking for a staycation with tropical vibes, then we've got good news because Britain's best white sand beaches have just been revealed.

A new study by Parkdean Resorts matched 50 British beach sands with beautiful Pantone shades to find out which had the most pristine, Caribbean-like sands.

Kynance Cove in Cornwall came out on top, with sands the colour of Cool Gray 1 C. Which, in short, gives it a similar feel to wriggling your toes in the sands of a Maldivian paradise.

Following a close second, sporting a similar but slightly warmer-coloured sand, is Appletree Bay (also in Cornwall) in shade Warm Gray 1 C.

And in bronze position, you'll likely be unsurprised to hear by this point, it's another Cornwall shore: popular holiday destination, St Ives.

Also making up the top ten were Studland Bay (number four) and Bournemouth (number five), both in Dorset, as well as Whitby Sands in North Yorkshire and and the golden sands of West Wittering in West Sussex.

Finally, Brancaster in Norfolk made an appearance, and Fistral Beach in Cornwall and Embo Beach in Sutherland bagged the final spots.

Of course, all these beaches have much more to offer than just picture-perfect sands, they're also surrounded by areas of natural beauty, coastal walks and plenty of foodie hotspots to fill your boots after a day of paddling.

You might also be interested to know that the beach that came out at number 50 was Cleethorpes in North East Lincolnshire, which matched with a rather more ashy Pantone colour known as 4227 C. But still looks like a gorgeous spot to enjoy a day at the seaside.
