Cheryl and Liam Payne have put on a united front amid reports of an impending split with a joint appearance on the BRIT Awards red carpet.

It was rumoured earlier this week that Cheryl would attend the ceremony to show support for boyfriend Payne who is performing.

Cheryl sported a black mini dress accessorised with a white rose in honour of the Time’s Up movement, while Payne wore a white rose pin on his light blue suit jacket.

It has been reported that Payne has recently sought legal advice from divorce lawyers on protecting his £54 million fortune, as well as allegedly discussing custody arrangements for their 11-month-old son Bear.

A source told The Sun: “Liam has sought some legal advice but he still wants to make it work. It’s sensible to be prepared for all options.

“With a young son and a number of assets between them there is more to breaking up than just parting ways. He hopes it doesn’t come to it but he’s just being careful.”

Payne’s travelling is said to be the reason for the alleged strain in their relationship, with the singer spending most of the past six months on the road to promote his new music.

Standard Online has contacted representatives for Cheryl and Payne for comment.
