Bridgerton has released a detailed new trailer in anticipation of the season two return later this month, showing Anthony caught in a love triangle with two sisters.

Viscount Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) is on the hunt for a wife this time, following sister Daphne's (Phoebe Dynevor) steamy romance with the Duke Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page) last series.

But the latest trailer shows that the course of true love is not set to run smoothly as he begins to spend time with Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran), soon discovering that to get to Edwina he really needs to impress her sister, Kate (Simone Ashley).

Kate is not a fan of Anthony to begin with, but as they get to know each other better romantic feelings begin to develop between them while Edwina still believes she is in a relationship with him.

Anthony admits to a friend in the trailer: "It is only out of love of my family that I aim to choose a bride with my head and not my...heart."

In one scene, Bailey acts out a Colin Firth as Mr Darcy moment for his character Anthony, as he emerges soaked to the skin from a lake after tripping over Kate's dog.

The sisters both look on in awe as he hauls himself out of the water, but Edwina notices that her sister is also staring at her love interest.

Elsewhere in the trailer, there is of course no sign of Page as he quit Bridgerton after season one, but his flourishing relationship with Daphne is hinted at as she looks very happy carrying a newborn baby.

Daphne also offers her brother advice as he struggles with who to choose as his wife.

Meanwhile, things are looking precarious for Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) as the Queen (Golda Rosheuvel) says: "Lady Whistledown's words carry far too much import. We must entrap the scribbler."

Bridgerton season two will begin streaming on 25 March on Netflix.
