Filming for season two of Netflix's Bridgerton has been paused indefinitely after a cast or crew member tested positive for Covid.

Producers at Shondaland are attempting to schedule a timetable for a safe return to filming amid surging cases of Coronavirus across the UK.

Netflix has declined to comment on whether it was an actor or member of production who has contracted the virus, Deadline reports, but the individual is currently self-isolating. Filming had temporarily halted last week for 24 hours after a crew member tested positive fo Covid.

The Regency-era drama set in London follows the lavish lives of the Bridgerton family, with series two focusing on the romantic pursuits of former rake Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and his quest to find a wife.

The show recently announced it's new leading lady - Simone Ashley, best known for playing Olivia in Netflix's Sex Education, who will play Miss Kate Sharma, "a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools — Anthony Bridgerton very much included."

Charithra Chandran is playing Edwina Sharma, Kate's younger sister, who is ostensibly the object of Anthony's desire, until he begins to fall for Kate.

Nicola Coughlan, who stars as Penelope Featherington on the series, recently shared a photo of the cast enjoying a drink in the pub as they bonded over pink champagne.

Other new cast members include Shelley Conn as Mary Sharma, Kate's mother, Calam Lynch, who will play Theo Sharpe and Rupert Young, who will play Jack.

We're also going to see Rupert Evans as the late father of the family, Edmund Bridgerton, presumably through flashback and memory sequences similar to those of the Duke of Hastings in season one.

Bridgerton season 1 is now available to watch on Netflix. Season 2 is in production. Secret Cinema with Fever Present Bridgerton opens on November 10 in a secret outer London location. To purchase tickets, head here.
