Video footage has emerged showing a campaigner for the Brexit Party being physically forced out of a Morrisons supermarket.

The footage, that was widely shared on social media on Wednesday, shows a man carrying leaflets for the party and wearing a badge being pushed away from the entrance by the security guard.

The campaigner was stopped from entering the store in Denton, Greater Manchester, at every attempt and can be heard saying: “I have a right to a cup of tea in your store.”

At one point, another man is seeing helping the security guard, with both men blocking and swearing at the campaigner.

Michelle Dewberry, former Apprentice star and Brexit Party candidate in the upcoming general election, also tweeted the video.

She wrote alongside: “Absolute disgrace Morrisons. Campaigning all day is tiring. Everyone is entitled to a rest. How dare you assault/ban him in this way?

"I’m a Brexit Party candidate. Am I to assume my team and I are also not welcome in your stores? What about Brexit backing customers?”

However, a spokesperson for Morrisons said that customers inside the store had complained about the man in the video “because he was forcing leaflets onto them”.

The spokesperson added to Yahoo News: “Electioneering doesn't take place in our stores. He was asked to leave the store but wouldn’t.

“The security guard, who is from a security company, overreacted and we are dealing with this.”

The Brexit Party told Yahoo News that they were investigating the incident themselves and would not comment further “until more information becomes available”.
