Proof That Breakfast Doesn’t Have To Be Boring

It’s drilled into our heads that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The first meal of the day is vital, of course and it’s a great excuse to make it exciting and fun! Recently, I’ve really been getting into meal planning and breakfast is the one meal, I am loving to plan and then make.

These are just a few ideas to make your next brekkie not so boring!

Find Inspiration

It all starts with sourcing recipes; from books, the web and people too. Start on a Sunday and plan out your week work wise. If you have an early start, you need something quick and easy if it’s a late start or weekend you can take some time and cook something fresh.

I used to spend hours scrolling the web for beauty inspiration but now I’m all about food. Patience is not my thing, so any recipe I do find has to have a minimum cooking and preparation time. Find recipes that suit you and your lifestyle, don’t just cook it because it looks pretty.

If You Can’t Eat It, Drink It

One thing I hear a lot from friends and family is that they can’t digest food so early in the morning as their stomach can’t sit right afterwards. My recommendation is to try breakfast in a liquid form, be it tea or a cult favourite - smoothie.

Make your life simpler by getting the ingredients ready the night before ready to blend or make it the night before ready to drink in the morning. If a smoothie sounds ideal, try adding a few healthy and energising ingredients in to keep you going.

Spinach for example is full of vitamins and minerals to give you a kick start, matcha powder is full of antioxidants and helps with digestion. Instead of milk, try coconut water which will give you hydration and electrolytes - your body will love you. Going with any dairy alternative can add a different taste to your smoothie.

Don’t Be Afraid To Treat Yourself

I’m not going to scream and shout about eating healthy breakfasts because I love a cheat day. If you want a fry up with extra hash browns, go for it. The naughty yet nice breakfasts are the best ones and at the weekend make the perfect brunch. Going all out, make eating breakfast less boring and the chance to take that cliche instagram photo.

Why not try at home pancakes, the classic way, banana ones or even my current favourite way - with nutella. You scoop a spoon of nutella into the pan when the mixture is cooking and then when they are fully cooked, it’s heaven. It all melts in the middle and is glorious. Another instagram cliche is of course avocado on toast, but don’t knock it till you’ve tried it.

There are so many different ways of making it and the toppings you can put on are endless.

Mix It Up

Personally, I love a bowl of cereal in the morning. It gives me a boost of energy and keeps me going until lunch. Eating the same one everyday is a bore, recently I’ve been mixing it up. Literally, mixing them, by taking two different cereals.

Start by taking your two favourite ones and put equal parts in the bowl, give it a stir, add your milk and enjoy! I love taking a seasoned one such as the Cheerios Cinnamon Oat Crisp, they taste sweet yet spicy. Mixing it with a plain one such as the Go Free Rice Pops. These are delicious, light and gluten free - a path I am trying out at the moment.

Breakfast should not only be the most important meal of the day but the most exciting too! So many different alternatives to make and ways to enjoy the first meal of the day.
